2010 Expanding Horizons Rob Gorrell has been building and selling Rustic Furniture since 1992.  After spending 2009 buiding mostly tramp art, Rob is continuing to explore tramp art along with his love of rustic furniture and folk art. He is especially interested in traditional tramp Art techniques and the possibilities of combining tramp Art with rustic elements.  Using twigs, salvaged and reused lumber, cigar boxes, found objects and discarded metal Rob is reconnecting with traditional patterns and developing a new style all his own. Another  year has started with new ideas, goals and questions. During 2010 I want to explore more about how I can mix traditional and new ideas into unique folk art items in the future.  This will include learning some basic tinsmithing, blacksmithing and coopering techniques.  I continue to be torn between recreating traditional utilitarian and folk art, and making new original folk art and rustic pieces. Stay tuned and see which way I stray next.
