Rob Gorrell is a folk artist from West Virginia. Since 1992 he has been
working with twig, branches, found objects, salvaged materials, bark bone and stone, to make a variety of unique functional
folk art items.
Rob is very aware of his heritage, which is always
present in his work. He is an avid history buff and is always looking to learn more about traditional woodworking and
metalworking techniques and how to incorporate those techniques into his work.
"Right now I am trying a lot of different techniques to
improve my abilities as an artist" says Rob. "I see my work as a connection between the past, and our present desires
to live simpler, less cluttered lives, closer to nature." Rob has developed a signature look with his use of twigs, antlers
and found items.
Rob lives in Parkersburg WV with his wife
Shelley who is also an artist. Rob began building rustic furniture in 1992 and has been selling his work ever since.
His first rustic items were barn wood herb planters. He moved on to tables, chairs, garden furniture and so on until
he developed the items he is creating today. He and Shelley used to do retail craft shows before moving to wholesale trade
shows. He now concentrates on one of a kind items and custom work.
Rob's work has been shown in Country Living Gardener, Log Home Living, Cabin Life and Romantic Homes magazines.
